Sewing Club Program at

St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Elementary School

We’re excited to bring our Sewing Club to St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Elementary School as a fun and creative lunchtime activity for students in Grades 1–8. This 4-week program introduces the art of hand stitching through engaging, age-appropriate projects that promote creativity, focus, and fine motor skills, while also encouraging sustainable thinking through upcycling and reuse of fabric materials.

Program Overview:
Students will learn the basics of hand sewing and create a variety of small, functional, and decorative items such as felt animals, bookmarks, patches, or mini pillows. The focus will be on simple stitches, safe tool handling, and creative self-expression. Projects will use upcycled fabrics and felt provided by our studio, teaching students the value of repurposing materials into something new and unique.

As the program grows, we plan to expand to include practical sewing skills such as sewing on buttons, mending holes, and making small alterations, which are valuable lifelong skills that encourage independence and resourcefulness.
